When work become fun (Meme Design)

When Work Become Fun meme design-cover-1

I’ve always considered myself an introvert—a person who keeps to himself. But in my mind, I’m constantly thinking of ways to make the environment around me fun and lively. When I joined REVE Chat, I was lucky to find colleagues like Jewel Bhai and Shahen Bhai, who shared a similar mindset. They also believed in enjoying their time at work, and being around them made my office hours genuinely enjoyable.

Adding to this vibrant atmosphere was our supervisor, Rupen Bhai, someone who not only appreciated humor but actively encouraged it. Whenever I had a joke in mind, I would make it a point to share it with him, and he would always enjoy it. With this dynamic team, work didn’t feel like a chore—it became an opportunity to laugh, create, and connect.

One such experience perfectly embodied this spirit: the task of creating 21 humorous customer service memes. What could have been just another deadline-driven assignment turned into one of the most fun and creative projects I’ve ever worked on.

The Task: Creating 21 Customer Service Memes

When I first joined REVE Chat, my on of primary responsibility was handling graphic design tasks. A part of my daily routine included creating blog images to support our content writers. One day, one of our writers was assigned a particularly interesting topic: “21 Humorous & Funny Customer Service Memes.”

Our job? To design and deliver 21 unique, funny memes related to customer service within just two days.

At first, this seemed like a challenge. But it quickly turned into one of the most enjoyable assignments I’ve ever worked on, thanks to the collaboration with my colleague, Jewel Rana Bhai, and the creative process we embarked on together.

Brainstorming: The Fun Begins

To kick things off, we sat down to brainstorm meme ideas. We needed relatable templates that matched customer service scenarios, ensuring they were both funny and appropriate for our audience.

We set aside a two-day timeline to create all 21 memes. The clock was ticking, but instead of feeling pressured, we embraced the task with enthusiasm. As we worked together, we found ourselves laughing at every ridiculous customer service situation we could think of. The brainstorming sessions were filled with jokes, witty remarks, and bursts of creativity.

The Creative Process

Here’s how we approached the task step by step:

  1. Template Selection: We started by identifying popular meme templates that could be adapted to customer service themes. Whether it was the “Waiting Skeleton” meme or the “Running Away Balloon” template, we made sure each one was relevant and humorous.
  2. Idea Generation: Together, we came up with scenarios that customer service professionals encounter daily—funny complaints, unreasonable demands, and classic misunderstandings.
  3. Feedback Loop: After generating a batch of memes, we shared them with our supervisor, Rupen Bhai, for feedback. If the memes were funny and aligned with our company’s tone, they were approved. If not, we refined or replaced them.
  4. Execution: With each approved meme, we moved quickly to design and finalize the graphics, ensuring high-quality visuals that matched the humor of the text.

The Outcome: Fun at Work

Throughout the two days, the task felt more like a game than work. We laughed until our sides hurt, celebrated every approved meme, and found joy in the collaborative process. By the end of it, we had created 21 unique memes, each one funnier than the last.

One of my favorites was a meme about the classic “When customer comes with a problem to solve?” scenario, which had everyone in the office laughing. Seeing our colleagues and supervisors enjoy the results made the effort even more rewarding.

Lessons Learned

This experience taught me that:

  1. Collaboration Sparks Creativity: Working with a teammate like Jewel Rana Bhai made the task enjoyable and productive. Bouncing ideas off each other helped us generate better content.
  2. Fun and Work Can Coexist: When you’re passionate about a task and have the right environment, work doesn’t feel like a burden.
  3. Laughter Is the Best Motivator: Humor not only made the task fun but also boosted our productivity and morale.

Final Thoughts

Looking back, those two days of creating customer service memes at REVE Chat were some of the most memorable moments of my career. It wasn’t just about completing a task; it was about enjoying the process, finding joy in creativity, and building camaraderie with a colleague.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: work doesn’t have to feel like work. With the right mindset, the right people, and a touch of humor, even the most demanding tasks can turn into an opportunity for fun and growth.

So, the next time you’re faced with a challenge, try approaching it with a bit of creativity and collaboration. You might just find yourself laughing your way to success.
